FRAGMENTS
CREDITS
The Long Island based photographer Patricia Voulgaris aims to show the interesting relationship between photography and memory. In her series Fragments she reconstructs personal memories of her past and gives them a new meaning by deconstructing them. “I’m very interested in what you actually remember versus what your mind creates, and the sorts of voids you might have in your head’’, she tells.
In her photography she plays with lines, form, light and shadow as this results in a focus not particularly on the primary subject, but rather at the empty spaces that envelope abstract space. As she took her inspiration from contemporary artist currently experimenting with abstraction, she managed now to develop her own visual style.
