GUP Magazine is proud to present the eighth edition of New Dutch Photography Talent: New 2019. Each year, New features the 100 greatest photography talents the Netherlands has to offer.
New 2019 will be presented in November 2018. We are now open for submissions. All photography students, recent graduates and starting self-taught photographers born and/or based in the Netherlands are welcome to apply. You can submit your work – for free! – until August 1, 2018.
GUP Magazine
New is an initiative of GUP Magazine. The GUP editors and a special guest juror will make the selection from the pool of submissions and create New out of the 100 best.
Exposure
New draws the attention of some of the most important contacts around: from photography lovers to professionals working in museums, galleries, media, agencies and much more. By including only Dutch and Netherlands-based photography talent, New provides a regional guide, but it’s just as much an international platform. There are countless examples of photography careers kickstarted by New. 2018 Cover star Paul Cupido, for example, was featured in GUP #57. Bart Lunenburg, Tamara Stoffers, Peronne Pere and Alexander Sporre all showed at Haute Photographie Rotterdam and Stockholm. Bas de Jager, Ramazan Barlas, Laura Hospes and Bastiaan Woudt are now represented by Kahmann Gallery. The list is endless.
How it works
If you are amongst the selected 100 photographers to be featured as a New Dutch Photography Talent, we will grant you 4 pages (2 spreads) in New 2019. However, publishing a book isn’t free. Submitting your work is free, but if you’re selected we have to ask you to contribute to the costs of publishing the book. Without this we wouldn’t be able to make it. The rate for all included participants is 300 euro (ex. VAT). With this contribution, you will also receive 5 free copies of the New book (total retail value: 125 euro). In addition, the fee you pay enables us to mail the copies of the book to our extensive network in the photography world, as well as promotion through all GUP platforms (websites, social media and events).
