LETTERS FOR TWO, AND NO-ONE ELSE
CREDITS
In her series ‘Letters for Two, and No-One Else’, Ksenia Yurkova (b. 1985, Russia) explores family fictions, false memories and the complexity of identity apart from one’s roots. She constructs her photographic project from her family archive of letters and photographs together with elements of performative self-portraits. In her statement she writes: “Every artifact from my ancestral tribe built me up. […] I was deprived of the subjunctive.”
Ksenia Yurkova won the Gomma Photography Grant 2014 and was announced as one of the finalists of the Grand Prix Fotofestiwal 2015. The project has also been published as a book and is available in limited edition, available for pre-order through the artist directly.
